Exhibition space
Our exhibition spaces are located in Lapinlahden Lähde, a historically significant building listed as a museum. Exhibition spaces are not traditional gallery spaces, but are intended for open and communal use. The exhibition spaces cannot be booked exclusively for use by a single organisation. All our spaces, including the exhibition spaces, cater for a wide range of activities and visitors, which makes Lapinlahden Lähde a vibrant and inspiring location.
Installation and technical specifications
Gallery Välitila slightly differs from rest of the gallery spaces regarding installation possibilities. Unlike other spaces, Välitila has a single wall where artworks can be attached to walls with screws or nails. Tape and adhesive hooks are allowed on the rest of the walls. Gallery Välitila does not have gallery rails for attaching artworks. Attaching anything to ceiling, floor, doors or windows without permission and specific instructions is forbidden. Lighting consists of the building’s general lighting.
Please take a look at the exhibition space floor plan in advance so you can plan how to arrange your works in the space.
Responsibility and Insurance
The exhibition spaces are provided free of charge. The artist is fully responsible for the exhibition and its content. The space is not supervised, and there is no continuous on-site staff presence.
Lapinlahden Lähde / Pro Lapinlahti Mental Health Association does not insure artworks. Arranging insurance for artworks is entirely the responsibility of the artist.
We welcome the sale of artworks and do not charge any commission on sales. All aspects of artwork sales are the responsibility of the artist. The artist is responsible for preparing any materials required for sales, such as an artwork list, pricing information, and contact details.
Additional Programme
We warmly welcome public, free-of-charge events organized in connection with exhibitions, such as exhibition openings, workshops, artist talks, or discussion events. Please feel free to contact the exhibition curator at any time to discuss your ideas.
Exhibition Schedule
Exhibition coordinator will suggest a timeframe for your exhibition. Setup and teardown are arranged within this timeframe.
Setting up takes place between 10-14 on the first day of exhibition. Exhibition coordinator will assist with the setup. The artist chooses exact dates for the beginning and end of the exhibition within the given timeframe and informs the coordinator about these.
Exhibitions are usually taken down on the last day of the exhibition. The artist will take care of the teardown independently within the opening hours of Lapinlahden Lähde. If the exhibition ends on the same day, the teardown will take place after 17.00.
Communications and Marketing
The artist is responsible for preparing the exhibition’s marketing materials and agrees to submit them at least 14 days before the exhibition opens. The materials should include:
- Poster in the following formats: A4 (PDF), portrait image with a 4:5 aspect ratio (PNG), and landscape image measuring 1200 × 628 pixels (PNG).
- Exhibition and artist biographies. Write the exhibition description in the third person and include the exhibition title. The texts may be submitted in Finnish, English, or both languages. The recommended maximum length is 2,200 characters per language.
- The artist agrees to include the logo of Pro Lapinlahti Mental Health Association on the poster. The logo can be downloaded here.
- The artist may also submit additional images or information for social media.
The Pro Lapinlahti communications team will ensure that the exhibition description, dates, and location are published on our website. Depending on available resources and the team’s workload, other materials may also be published.
Opening hours and address
Lapinlahden Lähde is open every day of the year. Currently, the opening hours for exhibitions are aligned with those of Café Lähde, which are as follows (subject to change):
