Meet Lapinlahti people: osteopath Anneli Talvitie

Ihmisiä Lähteellä osteopaatti Anneli Talvitie

“It’s lovely to take care of people in such a healthy atmosphere”.

This is said by Anneli Talvitie, an osteopath working in Lapinlahti, whom many Lapinlahti people recognise. She has been a part of the current activities in Lapinlahti since the first years, and is a familiar face from a lot of events in the house. And many of the people in the house have also been treated by Anneli. She arrived to Lapinlahti in spring 2016 when she heard about vacant rooms in Lapinlahti from a client. After seeing Lapinlahti, Anneli decided right away she wants to stay in the building – and after negotiations she got a workroom in the so-called Mielentila (state of mind) corridor.

Lapinlahti in 2016 was a different place than it is now, and Anneli has seen and experienced the change. She has a story or two to tell from over the years. Especially the first years were challenging for her, and sometimes, for example, clients had to be treated to the accompaniment of drilling machines. Coordinating and developing of her operations and the development of the old, protected hospital building has also brought its challenges. Today, the renovation sounds have fallen silent, at least for now, and Anneli notes that the calmness of Lapinlahti along with the marine and forested landscape are a good backdrop for her work.

Anneli thinks Lapinlahti has a really nice work community, that has wonderful people and space to breathe. For her, it is a wonderful alternative to the noise and “stone desert” of the city – and a place, where she senses the history. In the future, Anneli expects the City of Helsinki to make a sustainable decision about the future of Lapinlahti, so that she can also plan her operations further and make bigger investments.

Thank you for the interview, Anneli!
