Meet Lapinlahti people: allotment gardener Paula

“Me and my friend have a vegetable plot here in Lapinlahti. It’s so great here ’cause you get help and everything. When we started we could probably only identify chives by the taste:) We’ve had help from others here!

In the spring, autumn, and whenever needed there’s talkoot. Those sure are great for bringing people together. That’s when you see also the other plot gardeners you usually don’t see since we come here at different times.

We call our plot either therapy garden or experimental garden. We’re always trying new stuff.
Once you get here you totally forget about work when you dig your fingers in the soil. You think you’re coming here for half an hour, but then an hour later you realize you’re still here doing stuff or chatting and drinking coffee and stuff ’cause someone brought some along.”
