Meet Lapinlahti people: Lauri Pajari

Lauri works at Ilmarinen (keskinäinen eläkevakuutusyhtiö Ilmarinen). On the 60th anniversary year of Ilmarinen the workers at the company have a chance to use one of their working days for volunteering work. One of the volunteering work targets Ilmarinen chose was Mieli ry, through which Lauri was directed to Lapinlahti.

Lauri’s day in Lapinlahti began with getting to know both the surroundings and the activities.

“Soon I found myself at work organising storage. Then I had a small lunch break in the beautiful, summery Lapinlahti. In the afternoon I was on call in the Nature centre in the Venice house. The day was full of different encounters with interns, staff, and visitors. Like an old lady who came to the nature centre and reminisced about the time her family member was a patient in Lapinlahti.”

Lauri took the offer to volunteer from Ilmarinen quickly, because he thinks it is very important. “The milieu in Lapinlahti is wonderful, and volunteering here is a nice change of pace from my demanding everyday working hours. This day was an excellent experience, and gave nice variety to my normal day to day.”
