Come and discover the fascinating history of Lapinlahden Lähde!
The tours of Lapinlahti’s old hospital will take you through the history of Finland’s first psychiatric hospital and mental health care, the persistent work of the Pro Lapinlahti Mental Health Association founded in 1988 and the origins of the current Lapinlahden Lähde Cultural Centre.
On these exciting tours, you will hear about the hospital’s most famous patient, Aleksis Kivi and visit his treatment room. You will also learn about the treatment methods and pioneering work of senior doctors such as Christian Sibelius – Jean Sibelius’ brother.
Ticket price is 12 euros and they can be bought at Café Lähde. You don’t have to reserve your place – just arrive! Welcome!
