Vartiosaari on 80 hehtaarin kokoinen upea saaristokohde, jossa voi viettää päivän erilaisia luontomaisemia ja lampaitakin ihaillen. Mennään siis yhdessä tutkimaan saarta! Retki on ilmainen lauttamaksua lukuun ottamatta. Retki on suunniteltu erityisesti ikääntyneille, mutta kaikki ovat tervetulleita mukaan. Päätarkoitus on nauttia luonnosta ystävällisessä seurassa. Kävelemme verkkaiseen tahtiin kiirehtimättä.

HUOM! Tapahtumaan on ennakkoilmoittautuminen. Voit ilmoittaa 1-2 henkilöä mukaan täyttämällä lomakkeen Lapinlahden Lähteen nettisivun tapahtuman alla. Peruutukset mahdollisimman ajoissa sähköpostitse kaupunkiluontokeskus@lapinlahdenlahde.fi. Retkien suuren suosion vuoksi perumatta jättämisestä tulee pääsykielto seuraavalle retkelle. Tapaaminen Herttoniemen metroasemalla, laituri 6 luona ulkona (Pysäkkitunnus: H4046). Ohjaaja paikalla noin klo 13:20. Lähdemme yhdessä bussilla 89 klo 13:32 kohti Laajasaloa ja Reposalmentien laituria, josta menee aurinkosähkölautta Vartiosaareen. Voit halutessasi tulla myös suoraan laiturille, johon saavutaan noin 13:45. Laiturin osoite on Reposalmentie 2. Retki on ilmainen, mutta lauttamatka maksaa. Yhdensuuntainen lauttamatka maksaa aikuisille kolme euroa (3€), meno-paluu kuusi euroa (6€), lapset 7-17v puoleen hintaan. Lipun voi ostaa myös etukäteen täältä: https://www.aurinkolautta.fi/ Lautalla maksetaan pääsääntöisesti kortilla, mutta käteiselläkin pitäisi onnistua kuten viime vuonna.

Vartiosaaressa pysähdymme todennäköisesti alkuun laiturin pop-up-kahvilalle, lähellä sijaitsevat myös kompostivessat. Kierrämme noin 2,5 kilometrin pituisen terveysluontopolun, jonka varrella nähdään mm. metsäkirkko, jatulintarha, Vartiokallion näköalapaikka, hiidenkirnu ja Suomen ainoan ja uhanalaisen rantaruttojuuren esiintymä. Pidämme Vartiokalliolla evästauon, joten kannattaa ottaa omat eväät mukaan. Retki päättyy osallistujista ja säästä riippuen noin klo 18:30 takaisin päälaiturilla. Voit myös halutessasi lähteä aiemmin. Sähkölautan palvelu päättyy klo 19.

Retki on melko helppokulkuinen, mutta ei valitettavasti esteetön Vartiosaaressa. Pukeudu sään mukaan ja erityisesti tuulta kestävästi. Retkellä on säävaraus myrskyn varalta, pieni sade ei haittaa. Retken ohjaajana toimii Lapinlahden Lähteen Kaupunkiluontokeskuksen koordinaattori/ohjaaja Ilona Rautiainen.

Vartiosaari is a magnificent archipelago destination covering 80 hectares, where you can easily spend the whole day admiring the natural scenery and even sheep. So let’s go and explore the island together! The trip is free of charge, except for the ferry ticket. Trip is planned especially for the elderly but everyone is welcome to join. The main purpose of the trip is to enjoy nature in friendly company. We will walk at a gentle pace without rushing.

PLEASE NOTE! Advance registration is required for this event. You can register 1-2 people by filling out the form under the event on the Lapinlahden Lähde website. Cancellations must be made as early as possible by emailing kaupunkiluontokeskus@lapinlahdenlahde.fi. Due to the popularity of the trips, not cancelling will result in not being allowed to participate in the next trip. You can join the queue by email.

We will meet at Herttoniemi metro station, outside at platform 6 (stop ID: H4046). Guide will be there around 13:20. We will take bus 89 at 13:32 to Laajasalo and the Reposalmentie pier, where we will board the solar-powered ferry to Vartiosaari. If you prefer, you can also come directly to the pier, where we will arrive at around 13:45. The address of the pier is Reposalmentie 2. The trip is free, but there is a charge for the ferry. A one-way ferry trip costs three euros (€3) for adults, six euros (€6) for a return trip, and half price for children aged 7-17. Tickets can also be purchased in advance here: https://www.aurinkolautta.fi/ (in Finnish only) The ferry ride is primarily paid by card but like last year, cash should be an option.

On Vartiosaari, we will most likely stop first at the pop up cafe by the pier, nearby you can also find the compost toilets. We will walk along a 2.5-kilometre-long nature trail, where we will see, among other things, Finland’s only occurrence of the endangered plant species Petasites spurius, a giant’s kettle, the Vartiokallio viewpoint and a forest church. We will also take a break at Vartiokallio for snacks, so please bring your own. The trip will end at around 18:30 at the main pier, depending on the participants and the weather. The electric ferry service ends at 7 p.m.

The route is fairly easy to walk, but unfortunately not barrier-free on Vartiosaari. Dress according to the weather and, in particular, wear windproof clothing. The trip is weather-dependent in case of stormy weather, but light rain will not be a problem. The trip will be guided by Lapinlahden Lähde City Nature Center coordinator/instructor Ilona Rautiainen.
